The Company

Queensland Health provides public healthcare to approximately 5.67 million residents across metropolitan, regional, and remote communities of Queensland. With over 130,000 staff and an annual budget of $28.9 billion AUD, it manages a network of 16 Hospital and Health Services (HHSs),slong with the Department of Health for statewide that provides system-wide oversight, corporate support, and clinical governance.. Surgery Connect is a Queensland Health program thatwas established in 2008 and allows clinically suitable public hospital patients to undergo surgery at a private hospital.

The Challenge

End-to-end referral processes, including collaboration between HHS partners and private providers, could take several days due to the increase in patient acceptance. Furthermore, when a HHS identified a patient for Surgery Connect, the referral process relied heavily on manual administration, including scanning and archiving records, creating PDFs, mailing paper referrals, coordinating care by phone, and processing invoices for each patient encounter.

The Solution AC3 helped modernise its ServiceNow-powered SCAN (Surgery Connect Activity Navigator) application to automate and streamline the entire patient journey - from referral through to provider invoicing and care completion. Read more here
